There’s something about fall that makes it magical. Is it the crisp air? Maybe it’s the foliage. Perhaps it’s the sight of pumpkins and cozy sweaters. Whatever the reason, the season is a crowd favorite.

Did you know that fall is a great time for traveling? It has lesser crowds, cheaper flights, and great bargains. Sounds tempting, yes?

If you’re looking to scratch your travel itch, fall is your best bet. Expedia U.S. Public Relations Head Christie Hudson agrees.

“The spike in searches for places like Munich, Ho Chi Minh City, and Barbados points to travelers being excited to pack their bags for places that were previously harder to visit due to travel restrictions, testing requirements, or high airfare prices,” she says.

With that said, we’ve compiled a list of fall destinations that travelers can enjoy. Read on and let your inner wanderlust out!

Patagonia

See the photo above? That’s Patagonia, a remote Southern American region that stretches across parts of Argentina and Chile. Its countless glaciers, majestic lakes, and diverse wildlife draw people to this sparsely populated destination.

October through November is the fall season in the Northern Hemisphere. However, those two months fall under Patagonia’s spring season. Not only will you get pleasant weather, but you’ll also avoid summer crowds in the process.

Get your fill of Patagonian spring by checking out Bariloche’s wildflowers on the Argentinean portion or admiring the Chilean side’s Torres del Paine National Park’s stunning views.

Valletta, Malta

Malta has been making a name for itself since its 2018 coronation as the European Capital of Culture. Its capital, Valletta, is where the action is in this island nation. Don’t let its small size fool you!

One of the first attractions visitors will notice is the City Gate, which has its own rich history.

The Upper Barrakka Garden boasts great views of the sea and surrounding islands, so you may want to head out there not long after your arrival. If you’re an art lover, don’t leave without visiting MICAS, or the Malta International Contemporary Art Space.

Seoul, South Korea

Seoul isn’t all concrete. The bustling city has tons of flora to balance out its highly urban aesthetics. And since it has many trees, you can bet that the fall season in this concrete jungle looks great.

Pictured above is a part of Olympic Park. The colorful foliage contrasts well with the park’s surrounding buildings, painting a picture-perfect scenario. Changdeokgung Palace is another place worth checking out for a glimpse of traditional Korean architecture and culture.

If you want to witness and experience Seoul in its fall glory, book a South Korean trip between October and November to catch the season’s peak.

Paris, France

The last (but definitely not the least) destination on this list is the City of Love itself. A trip to Paris almost always sounds like a good idea, but it’s especially better during the fall. Just imagine vibrant leaves falling on its narrow streets.

Colder temperatures clear out crowds, and prices drop too. What’s not to like?

One of the best things to do in Paris is simply to walk around the city. You’ll be surprised by the places you’ll be in and the faces you’ll bump into. And since you’re in the City of Love, who knows — Cupid may strike his arrows right then and there!

Now that the world is safe to explore again, go ahead and give one (or more, if you’re up for it) of these fall destinations a visit. Don’t forget to research travel requirements you may need to avoid sticky situations.

Happy traveling!
